Cultural, Academic or Research Visa Basic Requirements

  • Applicants should be academics to be employed in degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in Canada, in case of the Foreign Academics stream. It promotes the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

Cultural, Academic or Research Visa Entitlements

Applicants under this program may work and live in Canada for a limited period, generally between 6 -24 months. The visa holders’ family (i.e. spouse and children) may also be allowed to study and work, during the stay. The candidate will be allowed to work for the designated employer in the specified role if he/she is the visa holder and if they want to seek employment in Canada, they may utilize the opportunity to get the visa extended. For a Skilled Worker visa for permanent residency, this visa may assist applicants towards their eligibility. Application for permanent residence may be processed in tandem with this visa application. This program may assist applicants towards permanent residence.
