Eligibility Criteria

Following are the criteria to get a Permanent Resident Visa under Federal Skilled Trades and the applicants must meet all of the:

• A candidate should have two offers of employment of having at least one year duration from employers in Canada OR a Certificate of Qualification from a provincial or territorial body
• A proof from a designated language testing organization of basic language proficiency in Canada’s one of the two official languages English or French
• In the last five years, a candidate should have obtained 24 months of qualified work experience in the skilled trade
• The candidates should be able to evince that they have performed the essential duties of the occupation and the skills and experience they’ve shown.

Trade Categories

There are some major and minor categories which comprised of Skilled Trades currently eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program

• Industrial, electrical and construction trades
• Maintenance and equipment operation trades
• Supervisors and technical occupations in national resources, agriculture and related production
• Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
• Chefs and cooks and Butchers and bakers.

Education Requirement

The candidates must complete foreign credentials (any diploma, degree or trade apprenticeships) issue by a renowned educational institute. However, there is no such education requirement for Federal Skilled Trades Program but to earn more points for Express entry, they need a Canadian post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree.

Canada Immigration Process- Federal Skilled Trades Program

A faster way to get a Canadian immigration Visa for permanent residency is started as of January 1, 2015 as the applications are being processed through Express Entry system.

Fulfilling the Eligibility Criteria

Only if the candidates fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the government of Canada, then only the candidates are eligible to immigrate to Canada under the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Online Express Entry

Candidates have to create an online profile once they meet the eligibility criteria in which they have to provide their personal information along with work experience, skill ability, language ability, education qualification and other mentioned details. The time limit to complete and submit the application is 60 days along with the documents and once it is accepted you are eligible for the invitation.

After the uploading and checking of the documents, Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) by the CIC is sent to the candidates, which determines that the candidate is eligible for the program or not by reviewing the application.

Passport and right of Permanent Resident Fee

Right of permanent fee is requested by the CIC after the completion of the assessment and the passport is issued afterwards.
