Lower-Skilled Occupations Visa

This visa allows people from different countries to stay and work in Canada. This program allows individual to stay and work (temporarily) in Canada.

Visa Requirements

High school diploma or a maximum of 2 years of job-specific training is required to apply for Lower-skilled Occupations visa. The applicant must produce a Canadian employer’s job offer letter, essentially, in an occupation deemed low-skill. The offer letter should include following details:

  • Medical coverage in Canada and coverage for the appropriate provincial workers compensation plan
  • Advantages relating to transportation costs
  • Profile/ duties to be performed, remuneration and working conditions.

Moreover, issuance of the work permit, including the mandatory education, experience, and licensing are required and the applicants must be eligible for obtaining temporary residence by the offer of employment.

Visa Entitlements

Applicants possessing a Lower-skilled Occupations visa are allowed to stay and work in Canada for about 6 months and 2 years, after an approval. Applicants can get the visa extended for a period up to 2 years if they wish to continue working in Canada, as the program is so versatile. The candidates will have to leave Canada when their work permit expires, until applicants apply for an extension/ renewal or new work permits.
