Under this category, applicants can apply for Visa by providing they have Canadian parents to get citizenship, receive a Canadian passport, and be given the benefits for an eligible Canadian citizen. To fit in this category, the adopted applicant has to be adopted outside Canada.

Citizenship through Adoption Basic Requirements

The adopted applicants have to be adopted outside Canada on or after January 1st, 1947 for getting an approval in this category. There should be one Canadian parent for the applicant while the adoption takes place; the adoption was for the benefit (of the adopted child), that the adoption resulted into a genuine parent-child relationship, and that the adoption complied with all laws for the country of nationality of the adoptee, the parent should also be able to establish the facts that, at the time of the adoption as well as Canada. Additionally visa requirements will also apply.

After an approval, the applicant can enjoy the rights and freedoms as equal to a Canadian resident, which includes aboriginal people’s rights, religion, equality rights, mobility rights, freedom of thought, legal rights and speech as well as the right to peaceful assembly along with it, the applicants are also expected to comply with Canada’s laws, help others in the community, care for and protect country’s heritage and environment, and eliminate discrimination and injustice. The applicant also enjoys the right to vote in Canada, among the many privileges.
